Benjamin Davis

Benjamin Davis, PhD has a diverse work experience that spans over several years. Benjamin is currently employed at Exponent as a Managing Scientist, a position they have held since April 2022. Prior to this role, they worked at Exponent as a Senior Scientist from January 2020 to April 2022. In 2020, they also held a position as an Associate at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.

Benjamin's work experience at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health dates back to 2017, where they initially started as a Research Associate. In this role, they conducted exposure science and epidemiological research with a specific focus on spatial statistics, spatial-temporal analyses, food safety, and environmental health. Benjamin also mentored master's students and taught courses on the spatial sciences.

Before joining the research associate role, Benjamin served as a CLF-Lerner Fellow at the Johns Hopkins Center for a Livable Future from September 2012 to August 2017. During this time, they conducted an in-depth literature review comparing the health risks and benefits of consuming raw versus pasteurized milk. Benjamin also conducted independent research on oyster aquaculture in the Chesapeake Bay, collecting spatial data and performing exploratory spatial-temporal analyses.

In 2015, Benjamin briefly worked as a Gordis Teaching Fellow at Johns Hopkins University. Prior to that, they served as the President of the Environmental Health Sciences Student Organization (EHSSO) at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health from June 2014 to May 2015.

Benjamin's early work experience includes a position as an IRTA Post-Baccalaureate Research Fellow at the National Institutes of Health from September 2010 to April 2012. During this time, they conducted independent research in the lab of Neuroepidemiology, focusing on the effects of moderate alcohol intake on cognition and brain volume.

Before their career in research and academia, Benjamin worked as a Summer Theatre Director and Assistant Director at The Theatre Lab School of the Dramatic Arts from June 2009 to August 2010. Benjamin also gained research experience as a Research Assistant at Vassar College from May 2008 to May 2010.

Benjamin Davis, PhD, completed their Bachelor of Arts degree in Neuroscience & Behavior at Vassar College from 2006 to 2010. Benjamin then pursued their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Environmental Health and Engineering: Exposure Sciences at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, graduating from 2012 to 2017. In 2014, they obtained a certification in Risk Sciences and Public Policy from the Risk Sciences and Public Policy Institute, also affiliated with Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
