Dan Hermann

Dan Hermann's work experience includes roles at various companies. Their most recent role is as a Staff Engineer at Fastly, where they started in 2023. Prior to that, they worked at Slack as a Staff Engineer, focusing on automating and supporting the company's primary datastore and building out a distributed datastore. Dan was at Slack from 2022 to 2023.

Before Slack, Hermann worked at Elastic as a Senior Software Engineer on the Elasticsearch Team from 2017 to 2022. Dan also held the position of Senior Data Engineer at Sonatype from 2017 to 2017.

In 2016, Hermann worked at Signifyd as a Senior Data Engineer, where they improved the throughput of the data platform supporting real-time credit card transaction analysis. Dan also developed gRPC services for scaling components of the transaction processing pipeline.

From 2008 to 2016, Hermann worked at Corepoint Health as a Principal Engineer, leading the development of a healthcare message distribution server using SQL Server. Dan achieved a 10x performance improvement with a zero-maintenance database schema.

Hermann's earlier experience includes a role at Morgan Stanley as a Developer for the Fixed Income Securities team from 2006 to 2008. Dan developed applications for security pricing and trade execution.

Dan Hermann has a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Dan also holds a Master of Divinity degree in Theology from Westminster Theological Seminary.
