Jianchang Mao

Jianchang (JC) Mao is a distinguished technology leader with extensive experience in engineering and product management across major companies. Currently serving as a Distinguished Fellow, Venture Partner & Advisor, and General Partner at Fellows Fund since May 2023, Mao previously held the role of Vice President of Google Assistant Engineering at Google, leading a large team focused on developing the Google Assistant product from April 2021 to April 2023. Prior to that, Mao contributed to Microsoft for nearly a decade in various capacities, including Corporate Vice President for Microsoft Advertising Products and Engineering, where responsibilities included managing a multi-billion-dollar advertising marketplace. Mao's earlier career at Yahoo! Inc. involved leadership in advertising sciences, alongside key roles at Verity Inc. and IBM Almaden Research Center, contributing to the development of innovative technologies. Educational qualifications include a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Michigan State University and advanced degrees in Physics and Electronics from East China Normal University.
