Luigi Ferraris

CEO at Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane SpA

From 3 June 2021 Luigi Ferraris has held the position of Chief Executive Officer of Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane.

He was Chief Executive Officer and General Manager of Terna from May 2017 to May 2020.

From February 2015 to April 2017 he was Chief Financial Officer of the Poste Italiane Group, of which he led the privatization and listing process.

From October 1999 to January 2015 he was part of the Enel Group, holding various leading managerial positions, including that of Chief Financial Officer of the Group, from June 2009 to November 2014; Chairman of Enel Green Power in the same period, overseeing the listing process; as well as Director of the Chilean subsidiary Enersis and, subsequently, Head of the Latin America area and Chief Executive Officer of the same, until January 2015. He was also a Director of the Spanish subsidiary Endesa SA and of other important companies of the Group.

From April 2015 to April 2017 he was an independent director of the energy company ERG SpA, listed on the Italian stock exchange.

Luigi Ferraris began his career in the auditing sector of PriceWaterhouse and has held various managerial positions in important Italian and international industrial companies, starting with Agusta, Piaggio VE, Sasib Beverage, Elsag Bailey Process Automation, a company then belonging to the Finmeccanica Group and listed on the NYSE. Between 1998 and 1999 he held the position of Chief Financial Officer in Elsacom, a Finmeccanica Group company operating in satellite telephony.

He has a degree in Economics and Commerce from the University of Genoa. He is a lecturer in Corporate Strategy at the LUISS Guido Carli University in Rome, where he also lectured on university courses in Business Strategies and Corporate Strategies and in the MBA courses of Energy Management , Planning and Control , management control and advanced corporate finance at the LUISS Business School.

Luigi Ferraris is married, father of two children, a lover of the mountains and classical music.
