Dr. Nelson Ogunshakin Freng Obe

Dr. Nelson Ogunshakin FREng OBE has a vast and distinguished work experience in various leadership roles within the engineering and infrastructure industries. Dr. Nelson currently serves as a Board Member & Deputy Chairman of the Programme & Investment Committee at Transport for London, where they oversee the transport system in Greater London. Dr. Nelson is also the Chief Executive Officer of the International Federation of Consulting Engineers (FIDIC), representing over 100 Member Association countries worldwide.

In addition, Dr. Ogunshakin has held significant positions such as Chairman of the Investment Committee at ARM-Harith Infrastructure Investment Limited, overseeing infrastructure investments across West Africa. Dr. Nelson has also served as a Board Member & Chair of the Investment Committee at Crossrail Ltd, responsible for corporate risk management and investment authority activities.

Previously, they were the President & CEO, as well as Chief Executive Officer, of the Association for Consultancy and Engineering (ACE), where they were responsible for strategic leadership, business growth, and policy development. Dr. Nelson has also served as a Member of the London Infrastructure Delivery Board (LIDB) at the Greater London Authority, contributing to the planning and execution of the London Infrastructure Plan 2050.

Dr. Ogunshakin has made significant contributions to the infrastructure industry, including their role as Co-Chair of the National Infrastructure Plan Strategic Engagement Forum (NIPSEF) at HM Treasury, and as Chairman and Non-Executive Director at ICE Publishing and Thomas Telford Limited. Dr. Nelson has also served as a Non-Executive Director and Trustee at EngineeringUK and as a Non-Executive Director at the McGee Group.

Throughout their career, Dr. Ogunshakin has demonstrated expertise in corporate turnaround, change management, infrastructure investment, procurement, mergers and acquisitions, and alternative dispute resolution. Dr. Nelson is well recognized for their global leadership and commercial acumen.

Dr. Nelson Ogunshakin FREng OBE has an extensive education history. Dr. Nelson began by earning a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Civil Engineering from Aston University, which they completed between 1981 and 1985. Following this, they pursued a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Construction and Project Management at the University of Birmingham from 1986 to 1987. In 1993 and 1994, Dr. Ogunshakin attended Aston Business School where they completed a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree, with a focus on Strategic Management and Project Finance. Later on, in 2009, they participated in an Executive Programme at Harvard Business School, concentrating on Leadership in Professional Services Firms. Continuing their executive education, Dr. Ogunshakin attended INSEAD in 2015, where they completed an Executive Programme specifically centered on Merger and Acquisition (M&A) and Corporate Strategy Development. Lastly, they earned their Doctor of Science (DSc) degree in Engineering and Applied Science from Aston University which was attained between 2010 and 2011.
