Patrick Gurtler

Patrick Gurtler has a diverse work experience spanning different roles and industries. Patrick has worked at Fidus Systems since 2017, initially as the Director of R&D and currently as the VP of R&D. At Fidus Systems, they specialize in turnkey solutions incorporating high-resolution video processing, high-performance computing, and high-speed communications.

Before joining Fidus Systems, Patrick founded Wilex Solutions Group in 2015 and served as its Principal and Founder until 2018. At Wilex Solutions Group, they provided project management, business development, and contract management services in the engineering and technology fields.

Prior to that, Patrick worked at Flex as a Senior Project Manager from 2016 to 2017, and at SMART Technologies from 2002 to 2014 in various roles, including Director of Product Development and Operations. At SMART Technologies, they were responsible for hardware product development, managing engineering teams, negotiating agreements with design and manufacturing suppliers, and promoting innovation within the R&D group.

Patrick's earlier experience includes working as the Director of Product Engineering at Novatel Wireless from 2000 to 2002, where they played a pivotal role in the development of the world's first 3G UMTS device. Patrick also worked at Spartan Controls as the Manager of System Integration, overseeing a 75-person engineering and services team, and provided technical sales support to key engineering customers.

Patrick's career began at Barnett Engineering as a Product Design Engineer and at Datek Industries as a Firmware Engineer.

Patrick Gurtler earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering with a minor in Computer Engineering from the University of Calgary between 1982 and 1986. Patrick also completed MBA courses in Project Management, Finance, Operations Management, and HR at the Haskayne School of Business. Furthermore, they hold a Certified PMP (Project Management Professional) credential from the Project Management Institute.
