Matt Maufe

Matt Maufe has had a varied work experience since 2014. In that year, they were an I.T. Teaching Assistant at Settle College. In 2015, they became a UKIECP Team Leader at Aberystwyth University. In 2018, they were a Web Developer at gloversure, where they developed e-commerce sites through the Magento framework, as well as CMS websites using in-house software, and assisted more senior developers with various tasks. Matt also developed various Android applications for clients as part of a small team using the Ionic framework. In 2019, they were a Data Science Intern at Moogsoft. In 2021, they began working as a KTP Associate - Machine Learning Engineer at Filament AI, where they are researching ways to generate synthetic data to better perform domain transfer on large pre-trained Transformer models using HuggingFace and PyTorch, researching automatic generation of knowledge graphs by scraping and parsing private equity news websites using tools like spaCy, and varied small-scale customer-facing projects. Matt also took over the management and implementation last year of a 3-year solo project, cleaning up the existing codebase and building on the existing code to deliver valuable tools such as an annotation tool, robust framework for training the models on a variety of tasks, and even the submission of a system demonstration paper to EMNLP 2022.

Matt Maufe completed their Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and AI from Aberystwyth University in 2019. Matt then pursued a Master's degree in Computer Science from The University of Edinburgh in 2020 and is expected to complete it in 2021.
