Hernán Romano

Hernán Romano has a diverse work experience in various roles and industries. Hernán started their career at Global Backbone S.A.C. as a Network Operation Center Practitioner, where they provided technical support and monitored critical services for top clients. Hernán then worked at Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú as a Teaching Assistant, assisting in courses related to cybersecurity and routing protocols.

Romano later joined REDES Y SERVICIOS S.A.C as an Engineer, where they evaluated and implemented telecommunications solutions for public and private sector clients. Hernán also served as the Head of Engineering, leading a team and overseeing project execution.

After that, they worked at Noovus Technology Business Unit as the Chief Technical Officer (CTO) and Head of Engineering. In this role, they built and directed a new business unit and successfully executed numerous telecommunications projects.

Romano then worked as a Full-Stack Software Developer and Freelancer at Romano, where they applied their knowledge in computer science to develop front-end, back-end, and full-stack applications.

Hernán joined Globant as a Python Developer and Python Engineer, contributing to the internationalization of the company and collaborating with a diverse team across different countries.

Most recently, Romano worked as a Data Engineer at the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research, where they were responsible for testing and benchmarking systems and extending their functionality.

Currently, Romano is a Software Engineer at Focus HQ, where they develop and implements new back-end features and applies continuous improvement in back-end development.

Hernán Romano completed their Bachelor of Engineering degree in Telecommunications Engineering at Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú from 2008 to 2013. Hernán then pursued a Master of Engineering degree in Computer Software Engineering at the University of Melbourne, which will be completed between 2021 and 2023.

In addition to their formal education, Hernán has obtained multiple certifications in various fields. Hernán received the Professional Engineer certification from Engineers Australia in September 2022. Hernán also holds certifications in JavaScript Algorithms and Data Structures, Python and Django Full Stack Web Developer, Web Projects with Vanilla JavaScript, The Ultimate MySQL Bootcamp, Modern HTML & CSS (including SASS), AI for Everyone, Complete Python Bootcamp, and The Modern Python 3, all obtained from Udemy throughout 2020 and 2021.

Furthermore, Hernán has acquired several other certifications, including IELTS from the British Council in December 2018, ITIL Foundation Certificate in IT Service Management from AXELOS Global Best Practice in August 2017, and Huawei Certified Network Associate WLAN (HCNA-WLAN) from Huawei Technologies in July 2016. Hernán has also received certifications in WhatsUp Gold – Ipswitch Network Management, FortiMail Specialist, FortiWeb Specialist, Endpoint Security Associate from Kaspersky Lab, Huawei Certified Network Professional Routing and Switching (HCNP R&SW) from Huawei Technologies, VMware Technical Sales Professional (VTSP) and VMware Sales Professional (VSP) from VMware, and Implementing Microsoft Azure Infrastructure Solutions from Microsoft, all obtained between 2014 and 2016.
