Gregory Gedman Ph D

Principal Computational Biologist at Form Bio

Gregory Gedman, Ph.D. has a diverse work experience in the field of computational biology and neuroscience. Gregory is currently working as a Principal Computational Biologist at Form Bio since February 2023. Prior to that, they were an NSF Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of California, Los Angeles from September 2021 to February 2023.

From December 2016 to May 2021, Gedman worked as a Graduate Fellow at The Rockefeller University, where they studied the molecular specializations in songbird and human brains related to vocal imitation behavior. Their research focused on identifying homologous brain regions using RNA sequencing.

Before joining The Rockefeller University, Gregory Gedman was a Graduate Student Researcher at Duke University from September 2014 to December 2016. Gregory worked in the lab of Erich Jarvis, investigating the genetic and molecular influences on vocal production learning in songbirds. Their work involved RNA sequencing and the identification of convergent gene expression patterns in brain regions responsible for learned vocalizations.

Gedman's early research experience includes working as a Student Researcher at the Biomedical Research Institute of New Jersey from June 2012 to December 2014. In this role, they developed a rodent model for focal cerebral ischemia and conducted behavioral testing to assess the clinical relevance of the model. Their thesis research focused on the therapeutic potential of caffeine following cerebral ischemia.

Overall, Gregory Gedman, Ph.D. has a strong background in computational biology, neuroscience, and experimental research in brain specialization and vocalization behavior.

Dr. Gregory Gedman has a strong background in neuroscience and neurogenetics. Gregory obtained their Bachelor of Arts degree in Neuroscience from Drew University in 2014. Gregory then pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Neuroscience at Duke University, completing their degree in 2016. During their time at Duke, Dr. Gedman specialized in the field of neuroscience.

After completing their Ph.D., Dr. Gedman continued their education at The Rockefeller University as a Graduate Fellow. From 2016 to 2021, they focused on neurogenetics, further enhancing their expertise in this area. As part of their professional development, Dr. Gedman also obtained a certification in Statistical Methods in Functional Genomics from Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory in July 2017.

Currently, Dr. Gedman is a Postdoctoral Fellow at UCLA, where they are engaged in research and study in the field of Integrative Biology and Physiology. Their education and experience demonstrate their commitment to advancing their knowledge in the field of neuroscience and their dedication to research and academia.
