Kayleigh O'Melia has a diverse range of work experience. Kayleigh worked as a Research and Development Engineer at Found Energy starting in January 2023. Before that, they were a Teacher at Shine in Math Academy from April to September 2022. Kayleigh also worked as an Innovation Associate at Ginkgo Bioworks, Inc. from January to September 2022. Prior to that, they were a FYELIC Red Vest at the First Year Engineering Learning and Innovation Center from September to December 2021. In the summer of 2021, Kayleigh was a Camp Counselor at Hidden Pond Day Camp at The Rinx and also worked as a Snack Bar Attendant at The Sports Arena. In February to May 2021, they had a research internship at the Center for Translational Application of Nanoscale Multiferroic Systems (TANMS). Finally, in July to September 2019, Kayleigh worked as a Research Intern at the Lu Lab.

Kayleigh O'Melia is currently a candidate for a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering at Northeastern University, which they are expected to complete in 2025. Prior to their enrollment at Northeastern, they attended Kings Park High School from 2016 to 2020, where they obtained their High School Diploma.
