Alan Harper has a diverse work experience spanning several companies and roles.

Alan began their career in the US Navy as a Hospital Corpsman, serving from 1999 to 2009. During their time in the Navy, they managed and maintained an information system for tracking the readiness status of Marines, resulting in a significantly improved return to full duty rate. Alan also handled major and minor property inventories for Navy Medical Departments.

In 2007, they joined Booz Allen Hamilton as a Software Test Engineer, where they prepared and provided project-level test artifacts and executed manual and automated test procedures for systems related to the Department of Homeland Security. Alan also worked as a Software Requirements Analyst, assisting in the development of system requirements and specifications.

Alan then worked at Deloitte Consulting from 2009 to 2011. Alan served as a Program Test and Test Quality Specialist, where they prepared enterprise-level test policies and provided oversight of test efforts. Alan also worked as a Data Quality Test Lead/Test Specialist, managing testing efforts for a data warehouse system.

In 2016, Alan joined Charles County Commissioners and served as the Chairman of the Board for the Homeowner's Association Dispute Review Board. In this role, they led the board in assisting homeowners in conflict resolution and mediation. Alan also worked as a Board Member, helping to resolve conflicts between board members, property owners, and governing Homeowner's Associations.

Since 2016, Alan has been with Freedom Information Systems, Inc. Alan has held multiple roles, including Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), Insider Threat Program Security Officer (ITPSO), and Client Site Manager. As CISO, they are responsible for effectively implementing and managing insider threat requirements. As ITPSO, they establish and executes the contractor's insider threat program and ensures compliance with security standards. As a Client Site Manager, they act as a liaison between the company and the client, ensuring good judgment in decision making and maintaining strong customer relationships.

Throughout their career, Alan has demonstrated expertise in information security, software testing, program management, and conflict resolution.

Alan Harper completed their education with a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Technical Management (BSTM) of Information Systems from DeVry University in 2007. Alan further pursued their education at Keller Graduate School of Management of DeVry University and obtained a Master's degree in Information Systems Management in 2009.

In addition to their academic achievements, Alan Harper also holds certifications. In March 2014, they obtained the Trusted Tester certification from the DHS Office of Accessible Systems Technology (OAST). Furthermore, they have recently achieved the Certified Information Security Manager® (CISM) certification from ISACA in January 2023.
