Alastair Thomann has a diverse work experience spanning multiple roles and positions. Alastair started their career as a Management Trainee at Radisson Edwardian in 1995, where they gained valuable experience in the hospitality industry. In 1997, they joined Arthur Andersen as a Consultant, where they further developed their skills in the field.
In 2002, Thomann joined HPI Germany Hotelbesitz GmbH as the Director of Operations. Alastair held this position until 2006, overseeing various aspects of hotel operations.
Thomann then moved to Pentahotels in 2007, initially serving as the Vice President Operations - Europe. In this role, they were responsible for managing the overall operations of the company's European division until 2012. From 2012 to 2014, they took on the role of Managing Director - Europe, overseeing the company's European operations. From 2015 to 2017, they served as the Managing Director, leading the overall management of the company.
In 2017, Thomann joined Generator as the Chief Executive Officer, where they played a pivotal role in the company's strategic decision-making and growth until 2019.
Currently, Thomann holds the position of Chief Executive Officer at Freehand, a role they have been in since October 2019.
Alastair Thomann completed their Abitur from Deutsche Schule London between 1984 and 1991. Alastair then pursued a Bachelor of Science (BSc Hons) degree in Hotel and Catering Management from the University of Surrey between 1991 and 1995, with a focus on Hospitality Administration/Management.
