John-Paul Upton

Senior Scientist at Frontier Medicines

John-Paul Upton began their work experience as a Post-Doctoral Fellow at UCSF in January 2007. In this role, they focused on discovering and manipulating biochemical signals related to programmed cell death under protein folding stress. John-Paul made significant discoveries in this field, uncovering novel pathways that could be used for potential therapeutic interventions in conditions such as diabetes, multiple myeloma, and Lou Gehrig's disease. John-Paul Upton worked at UCSF until May 2014.

Following their time at UCSF, John-Paul Upton joined Achelois Pharma as a Scientist from June 2014 to October 2015.

In December 2015, they started working at Genentech as a Senior Scientific Researcher. John-Paul held this position until April 2020.

John-Paul Upton is currently employed as a Senior Scientist at Frontier Medicines, starting in April 2020.

John-Paul Upton obtained a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Biochemistry from the University of Warwick from 2000 to 2003. John-Paul then pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Biochemistry at The University of Manchester between 2003 and 2006.
