Staff Writer, Computing - Techradar

Design · Full-time · England, United Kingdom

Job description

TechRadar exists for one simple, singular purpose: to help our readers buy, enjoy, and enhance the tech they love. We’re one of the biggest tech sites in the world, and we’re on the lookout for someone to join our team and help enhance our world-class computing coverage.

Reporting to the Computing Editor (UK) and working as part of a seven-strong Computing team, your role will be to write daily articles about the most important developments, devices, and software in the computing world.

What you'll be doing…

Well, one day you could be writing news stories about hardware, such as Nvidia graphics cards or software such as Microsoft Windows, the next you could be reviewing a Razer gaming keyboard or penning a tutorial on how to change settings in macOS. You’ll also have the opportunity to write opinion pieces, explainers, features, interviews, and more; so long as it’s computing-related and of interest to TechRadar’s audience, it’ll be on your agenda.

You’ll also contribute to social and video content on TechRadar, and may also get the chance to attend product launches and events, as well as trade shows; these will sometimes involve traveling. You may also be required to work weekends and evenings for key events (with prior consultation with your editor, and time returned fairly and promptly where necessary) as computing coverage dictates.

Experience that will put you ahead of the curve…

  • Fantastic writing skills.
  • Basic understanding of SEO.
  • Experience writing in online media.
  • A good knowledge of the consumer computing market.
  • Ability to explain complex subjects in a clear and easily understood fashion.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including excellent spelling and grammar.
  • Ability to deliver copy to tight deadlines.

What's in it for you…

We have a number of awesome perks available to our staff. We offer huge opportunities to learn and develop, whether through professional qualifications, exposure to incredible business projects or informal lunch & learns, hosted by your colleagues. We have a fantastic culture where we really do care about our people and want everyone to succeed. Varied roles mean you’re not pigeonholed in to one finite area but get the opportunity to develop a wide range of skills and experience

And to top it all off, not only do we offer unlimited holiday because we trust you to manage your workload and time but we also offer a share in our success whereby every colleague is eligible to join our profit pool bonus scheme - if Future hits their performance targets all colleagues may receive a bonus.

** Internal job family level E7.*

The expected range for this role is £24,000 - £25,000.

This is a Hybrid role from our Bath Office, working three days from the office, two from home.
