Eric Folland

Senior Unity Engineer at Gala Games

Eric Folland has extensive work experience in the gaming industry, starting as a Software Engineering Intern at VMware in 2011. Eric later worked as an iOS Engineering Intern at Google and then as a Gameplay Engineering Intern at Microsoft in 2012.

From 2013 to 2015, Eric worked as a Game Programmer at GREE International, Inc. Eric then founded their own studio, Cell Division Studios, and developed a humorous game called "Double Tap to Begin" before returning to school to complete their degree.

During their time at gumi Inc. in 2016, Eric transformed the game balance and data design, implementing a system that allowed designers to make changes without constant programmer intervention. Eric then joined Emerald City Games as a Senior Programmer and Designer, optimizing performance, integrating formulas into code, and implementing new features.

From 2018 to 2022, Eric worked as a Tools Programmer at Rockstar Games, where they contributed to the optimization and maintenance of game development tools.

In 2022, Eric joined ProbablyMonsters as a Workflow Programmer before moving to Gala in 2023 as a Senior Unity Engineer.

Eric Folland has a Bachelor's Degree in B.S. Game Programming from the Art Institute of Vancouver, which they obtained from 2015 to 2016. Prior to that, they attended the University of Waterloo from 2009 to 2012, where they studied Computer Science. In 2005 to 2006, Eric pursued Video Game Design and Development at the International Academy of Design and Technology-Toronto. Eric completed their high school education at Bluevale Collegiate Institute, although the specific years of attendance are not provided.
