Maria Laden

Head of Information Management and Data Protection Officer at GBB

Maria Laden has over 32 years of work experience, starting with a role as a Flight Attendant for Brittania Airways in 1988. Maria then moved to the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) in 1996, where they held various Team Leader and Data Processing roles. In 2004, they were promoted to Team Leader of the National Identity Fraud Unit. In 2006, they were promoted again to Manager of the Regional Serious and Organised Fraud Intelligence Desk. In 2007, they were promoted to Manager of the National Identity Fraud Intelligence Desk, where they worked with key stakeholders throughout the public sector to develop strategies to identify and prevent organised identity fraud attacks. In 2010, they moved to Cleveland Police as the Force Vetting Officer, where they acted as the head of security clearance. In 2014, they were promoted to Head of Information Management and Data Protection Officer, where they led on all aspects of Information Management on behalf of the Chief Constable. Maria also led a data quality project which received national recognition, winning the dataIQ 2018 "Breakthrough in Data" award and the Lloyds National Business Awards 2018 for "Data Excellence". In 2020, they moved to GBB as Head of Information Management and Data Protection Officer.
