José Melo Barcelos

Director - Product Innovation Programs & Partnerships at Geltor

José Melo Barcelos has a wealth of experience in product innovation, development, and research. José began their professional career in 2010 as an Undergraduate Researcher at the Universidade de São Paulo. In 2012, they became an R&D Intern at Solvay, where they studied enzymatic catalysis in milli-reactors and created a milli-reactor from capillary tubes. In 2013, they were an R&D Intern at TOTAL. In 2014, they became a Quality Control Assistant at J. Lohr Vineyards & Wines, where they analyzed grapes upon arrival, conducted spectrophotometric tests, and developed an interactive database for tracking wine properties. From 2015 to 2020, José worked at L'Oréal as a Process Development Engineer, Process Development Scientist, and Research & Innovation Management Trainee. José is currently an Associate Director - Consumer Product Innovation and Applications, and a Product Development Manager and Product Formulation Scientist at Geltor.

José Melo Barcelos obtained an Engineer's degree in Chemical Engineering from USP - Universidade de São Paulo between 2009 and 2014. José then went on to pursue a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Process Engineering from the University of Pau and Adour Countries between 2011 and 2013. Additionally, they have obtained certifications in User Experience Design from General Assembly in April 2020, Agile Project Management: Facilitating a Product Development Team with Scrum from Stanford Continuing Studies in November 2019, and Principles of Product/Market Fit from Stanford Continuing Studies in October 2019.
