Bex Dunn

Assistant Director, Science Engagement And Innovation, Digital Earth at Geoscience Australia

Bex Dunn is an experienced professional with a diverse background in scientific research and development related to Earth observation and data analysis. They started their career in 2014 as an Honours Graduate in Physical Oceanography at the University of Tasmania. From 2016 to 2018, Bex worked as a Landscape Scientist at Geoscience Australia, where they focused on developing new methods to combine Earth Observations data with other datasets to gain insights into landscape processes. In 2017, Bex also worked as a Fellow at OzEWEX, where they bridged the gap between forecasters and operational hydrologists by developing a prototype dashboard of forecast information. Currently, Bex is serving as the Assistant Director of Science Engagement and Innovation at Geoscience Australia, leading the development of targeted new Earth observation products and fostering collaboration and innovation within the field of Digital Earth.

Bex Dunn's education history includes obtaining a Bachelor of Marine Science (BMarSci) degree in Physical Oceanography from the University of Tasmania in 2013-2014. Prior to that, they completed a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) degree in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering from UNSW in 2004-2008.

In addition to their formal education, Bex Dunn has also acquired several certifications. They obtained a Wilderness/Remote Location First Aid certification from the Australian Institute of Leadership and Safety (AILS) in June 2021.
