Jason Cantera is a highly experienced Senior Research Scientist at GH Labs since August 2021, previously serving as a Research Scientist at PATH from December 2012 to August 2021, where significant contributions included the development of an assay for detecting SARS-CoV-2. Prior to PATH, Jason worked as a Research Scientist at IEH Laboratories & Consulting Group, focusing on molecular and immunoassay-based tools for food-borne pathogen detection. Jason started the academic career as an Assistant Project Scientist and Postdoctoral Scholar at the University of California, Riverside, with research on virus detection and ecological studies of nitrifying bacteria. Jason also held the position of Assistant Professor at the University of the Philippines, teaching microbiology and virology. Jason's academic qualifications include a PhD in Engineering - Biotechnology from Osaka University and both MS and BS degrees in Microbiology and Biology from the University of the Philippines.
