Michael Garcia

Principal Engineer Electrical at Glaukos

Michael Garcia has extensive work experience in the field of electrical engineering, specifically in the medical device industry. Michael began their career at Thermo CardioSystems in 1989, where they worked as an Electrical Engineer. Their responsibilities included designing and developing hardware and software for a single board computer in an FDA class III active implantable medical device environment. Michael also designed a patient connected linear power supply printed circuit board.

In 2001, Garcia joined Smith & Nephew as a Sr. Development Engineer. Here, they played a key role in developing electro-mechanical medical devices, following FDA design control practices and the European Union Medical Device Directive. Michael focused on analog design printed circuit boards for the control of brushless DC motors and the interface between motor control boards and Freescale Digital Signal Controller.

Garcia then moved to Medtronic in 2015, where they worked as a Principal Electrical Engineer. During their time there, they continued to contribute their expertise in developing medical devices and played a significant role in the electrical engineering aspects of various projects.

Their most recent position was at Glaukos Corporation, where they held the roles of Principal Engineer Electrical and Principle Electrical Engineer from 2018 to the present. These roles involved leading and overseeing electrical engineering activities, likely related to medical device development.

Throughout their career, Michael Garcia has consistently demonstrated their skills in electrical engineering and their ability to successfully design, develop, and deliver high-quality medical devices.

Michael Garcia attended the University of Massachusetts Lowell from 1987 to 1991 and obtained a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE).
