Principal Architect at GoDaddy

Viraj Bhat has a wide range of experience in the technology industry. Viraj started their career as a Senior Software Engineer at Satyam Computer Services Ltd, where they worked on code maintenance, feature enhancement, testing, and integration of FracCADE. Viraj also designed and developed the parser grammar for VB client.

After that, Viraj worked as a Researcher at Princeton Plasma Physics Lab, where they contributed to various research projects.

Viraj then joined Intel as a Software Engineer, where they designed, built, and implemented a generic web service software stack for web services prototyping. Viraj also developed two services on this framework using PHP and PEAR::SOAP.

At Yahoo!, Viraj held multiple roles, including Senior Technical Yahoo and Principal Member of Technical Staff. Viraj focused on improving the performance of Hive/Pig on Hadoop clusters and made Avro a usable file format for Yahoo! through Hive/HCatalog and Pig. Viraj fixed bugs in various tools and refactored source code to streamline interactions between Hive and HBase.

Currently, Viraj is working at GoDaddy as a Principal Architect. Their responsibilities include supporting multiple data projects, developing a framework for running machine learning pipelines using Spark and Apache Airflow, and investigating the application of Databricks framework for pipeline execution.

Viraj Bhat completed their Bachelor's degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology, where they studied from 1994 to 1998. Following this, they pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Computer Engineering at Rutgers University, where they studied from 2004 to 2007.
