Jake Assael, MPA has a diverse work experience in policy, advocacy, and environmental and energy issues. Jake is currently serving as a Senior Manager of Policy at GoodLeap. Previously, Jake worked as a Policy Coordinator at Physicians for Social Responsibility, where they mobilized members and chapters to act on climate policy and engaged with coalition partners and congressional staff on climate change and fossil fuel usage. Jake also co-founded Vote Climate U.S. PAC, working to elect candidates who support clean energy and carbon reduction policies. Jake has a strong background in the environmental sector, having worked at organizations such as CircleIT and the Environmental Protection Network, where they led efforts on EPA regulations and communication strategies. Jake also gained experience in government relations as an intern at Cassidy & Associates, focusing on climate change, land conservation, cybersecurity, and other issues. Jake has a passion for clean energy and participated in the Clean Energy Leadership Institute fellowship program. Their expertise in coastal infrastructure policies and funding was honed while working as a Public Policy Advisor at Warwick Group Consultants. Jake has also worked as an intern for Congressman Eliot Engel and assisted Professor Allan J. Lichtman with research and editing for their book on the case for impeaching President Donald J. Trump.
Jake Assael, MPA, completed their Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree in Environmental Policy at American University from 2017 to 2019. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor of Environmental Studies degree from the same institution, spanning the years 2012 to 2016. In 2014, Jake Assael also studied Sustainability Studies at the Danish Institute for Study Abroad.
