Catalina Macías Tolosa has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. Catalina began their career in 2013 as a Kitchen Assistant at Mmmmh!, where they assisted with cooking demonstrations. Catalina then worked as a Researcher & Journalist at RTBF, contributing to a series of articles and culinary content related to Belgium during World War 1. In 2015, Catalina served as a Certified Examiner at Institut français and a Historical Researcher at Fundación Erigaie, conducting research on the development of a downtown street in Bogotá, Colombia. Catalina also worked as the Head of Historical Research and Producer at Fundación Escuela Taller de Bogota, focusing on reviving cultural processes and supporting productions for National Heritage Days. Catalina continued their historical research role at the same foundation in 2016, specializing in the history of Cartagena de Indias. Additionally, they worked as a Freelance Translator at TVains International Translations and gained business development experience as an Associate at Guidepoint. Catalina eventually advanced to the role of Associate Vice President - Business Development at Guidepoint and became responsible for corporate social responsibility as the Head of a CSR Committee in Düsseldorf. Catalina Macías Tolosa has a strong educational background. Catalina obtained a Bachelor's degree in History from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, where they studied from 2005 to 2010. Prior to that, they completed their secondary education at Colegio Helvetia from 1992 to 2005.

After completing their Bachelor's degree, Catalina pursued further education and earned a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Food History and Culture from Université libre de Bruxelles. Catalina attended the university from 2011 to 2013.

Catalina received a certification in Communicating Across Cultures from LinkedIn in December 2020. In August 2016, they obtained the DAF B1 certification from Sprach Institut – ICCA Instituto Cultural Colombo Alemán. In October 2015, they earned the IELTS certification from the British Council. Furthermore, in February 2015, they became a certified examiner for DELF A1, A2, B1 from Institut français. Finally, they obtained the DALF certification from Alliance française de Bogota in May 2005.
