Mathew Tomberlin has a broad range of work experience. Mathew started their career in 2007 as a Cryptologic Linguist in the United States Marine Corps, attaining the rank of Sergeant before their honorable separation in 2012. In 2015, they began working as a Bookseller at Barnes and Noble, and as a Web Developer for independent clients. In 2017, they became an Undergraduate Student Researcher at California State University, Monterey Bay, where they wrote a paper accepted to IEEE Conference and developed an educational game utilizing the Neurosky EEG headset. In 2019, they began working as a Software Developer at Tapestry Solutions and as a Game Developer at HaptX Inc., where they developed virtual reality simulations in game engines including Unreal Engine 4 and Unity for use with their haptic feedback hardware. In 2022, they began working as a VR Software Engineer at HaptX Inc.

Mathew Tomberlin began their academic career in 2007, studying Korean Language at the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center. Mathew then attended the Academy of Art University from 2012-2013, studying 3D Design and Illustration. In 2013-2014, Mathew attended the College of San Mateo, studying Computer Science. Mathew then attended Monterey Peninsula College from 2015-2016, also studying Computer Science. Finally, Mathew completed a Bachelor of Science in Game and Interactive Media Design at California State University, Monterey Bay in 2016-2018.
