Kokoe Tanaka-Suwan

Kokoe Tanaka-Suwan has a diverse work experience in the field of music education. From 2019 to present, they have been working as the Orchestra Director at the Harrison Central School District. Prior to that, they served as the Director of the Music Program at Bronx Global Learning Institute for Girls from 2008 to 2019. Additionally, they worked as a Teaching Artist at the Bronx Art Ensemble from 2003 to 2008.

Kokoe Tanaka-Suwan has a rich education history in the field of music. Kokoe obtained their Bachelor of Music degree with a concentration in Music-in-education, majoring in Violin performance, from the New England Conservatory of Music in 2003. Kokoe further pursued their education and completed their Masters in Music degree specializing in Violin performance at Rutgers University from 2004 to 2008. Following that, they continued their academic journey at Rutgers University and earned a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Violin performance from 2007 to 2010. Later, Kokoe Tanaka-Suwan attended Columbia University where they achieved a Master of Education (M.Ed.) degree in Music in the year 2016.
