Carina Meyer began their career in 2013 with a Bachelor Thesis at the German Cancer Research Center (dkfz), under the supervision of Thomas Hofmann. Carina then completed a research internship in the same institution in 2014, working with Joel Beaudouin to investigate the dominant negative effect of a CD95 receptor. In the same year, they completed a research internship at Harvard University with Vlad Denic, where they generated yeast knock out lines and performed microscopy. In 2015, they completed a research internship and Master Thesis at the Heidelberg University Hospital, with Dr. Florian Leuschner, to establish and perform a cell-based compound screen in the context of myocardial infarction healing. From 2017 to 2021, Carina Meyer worked at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center as a PhD Student in Neuro-Immunology in Frederic Geissmann's Lab. Her PhD work involved analyzing the clonal expansion of mutated microglia and their effect in different parts of the brain by flow cytrometry, cell sorting, ddPCR and histology. Currently, Carina Meyer is a Senior Scientist and Scientist at HebeCell Corp.
Carina Meyer attended Heidelberg University from 2010 to 2016, where they obtained their Master of Science (M.S.) in Molecular Biotechnology, and their Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.Sc.) in the same field from 2010 to 2013. Carina then continued their studies at The University of Freiburg, where they obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Neuroscience and Immunology in 2020.
