People and Culture Director
At Hello Chef we aim to make people’s lives easier and more fulfilling. We’ve recently been certified as a B Corp and are on a path of consistent innovation and growth. We’re looking for a People and Culture Director to join our dynamic senior management team and build the next phase of our transformation.
Reporting to the CEO, you will help Hello Chef develop strategic advantage through its people and culture. You will deeply embed culture-first behaviours across the organization in a meaningful way. This involves evolving the HR function into a people and culture partner: one that truly understands the business and works to solve its challenges and capitalise on opportunities.
In this role, you’ll build strategically important infrastructure that guides who we work with and how we operate for years to come. You will develop a clear vision for the function that empowers teams, drives trust and authentic collaboration, and embraces change.
Mission:
The mission of the People and Culture Director is to realize the potential and maximize the energy of our people.
Accountabilities, goals, and outcomes:
Develop and execute a long-term people and culture strategy that supports company plans and creates tangible value for all stakeholders
Design and implement performance management and compensation/total reward structures and practices that align individual and team efforts with organizational goals
Build and own the capability-building agenda within Hello Chef, designing current and upcoming learning pathways that stimulate innovation, raise leadership ability, and support career development
What you’ll do:
Work across all levels of the organization to craft a people and culture strategy that supports the overall company plan
Lead on the development of an organizational design that optimizes efficiency, fosters collaboration, and accelerates the achievement of strategic goals
Develop our compensation design while leveraging the infrastructure from our existing performance management framework
Develop sound performance appraisal and performance conversation frameworks, training, and practices that espouse the culture
Transition Hello Chef to a learning organization; developing a strong L&D framework, identifying career pathways and learning content, and scanning for emerging or new capability gaps
Work with data constantly to uncover valuable insights, inform company plans and initiatives, and propose new policies and ways of working
Position the People and Culture team as business partners that help the other functions achieve their strategies
Oversee and continually improve our recruitment and resourcing capabilities, including creating a remote shared service centre
Work on cultural development initiatives that improve eNPS
Create value by playing the role of thought partner to the CEO and senior management team
Use technology to power the majority of the company’s people and culture activities, including streamlining and simplification of people processes and maximizing support self-service
What we’re looking for:
Minimum 10 years of progressive responsibility in people, culture, HR, or similar roles, including at least 5 years in a leadership role, ideally within an e-commerce and/or technology business
A university bachelor’s degree as a minimum
Strong strategic people and culture planning and execution skills
Excellent experience in designing and implementing organizational structures
Expertise in designing performance management frameworks and compensation structures
Strong L&D design and execution experience
Experience with complex change management projects
Strong communication and influencing skills
Experience in running organizational culture programs that drive impact
The proven ability to leverage technology to streamline processes and data accuracy
What we offer:
We believe a diverse workforce is a key ingredient in our recipe for success. At Hello Chef, we hire people from all walks of life - regardless of their ethnicity, race, gender, and religion. If you share our values and are looking for your next challenge, we'd love to hear from you.
