About This Role 

We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Legal Counsel to provide first-class legal support for data and technology transactions globally. 

The Senior Legal Counsel will serve as the lead lawyer and strategic business partner supporting the European and US business for the structuring and negotiation of data and technology-related partnerships and vendors agreements, as well as work with rest of the (outsourced) legal counsels to support the Company’s general legal activities, including corporate development and , labor matters and compliance.

Reporting directly to the VP, Finance-Legal-People, you will take care autonomously of the following missions:

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the global lead counsel for the European and US business advising the sales, publisher and customer success teams as well as the product teams on all legal matters.
  • Draft, review, negotiate a broad range of agreements relating to the company’s products incl. a wide variety of commercial agreements, such as MSA, software licensing, SaaS, professional services, marketing and vendor agreements globally.
  • Actively engage with and support the commercial team, providing not just legal expertise but also strategic business advice to help navigate complex transactions and foster robust business relationships.
  • Review, draft, and negotiate all international corporate housekeeping.
  • Manage and advise on the company’s patent and trademark portfolio and other IP matters, and work with the development teams to review open source software licenses.
  • Collaborate with external legal advisors to support the Company's general corporate activities

 

Requirements:

  • Law degree from a highly regarded law school and be admitted to at least one state bar.
  • 5 to 10 years of experience drafting, revising and negotiating contracts globally, ideally with an experience in data and/or technology transactions, in a law firm and/or in-house.
  • Experience in a technology, online advertising, software and/or venture backed start-up company preferred.
  • Proven track record of proactive and collaborative work, demonstrating the ability to engage effectively with business teams to drive legal and business strategies.
  • Familiarity with data protection and privacy topics 
  • Exceptional analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to think strategically and provide business-practical legal advice.
  • Strong organizational skills, including the ability to work autonomously as an individual contributor, manage timelines and balance multiple deadlines.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English (French is a plus), including a clear and concise drafting style.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
