Erna Toback, PhD, is a prominent figure in the field of primatology, currently serving on the Board of Directors at Chimp Haven, The National Chimpanzee Sanctuary, since November 2017, and as a Foundation Council Member for the Idyllwild Arts Foundation since September 2017. Erna has been a member of several professional organizations including the International Primatological Society, American Society of Primatologists, and American Association of Physical Anthropologists since the late 1980s and early 1990s. With prior experience as a Scientific Advisor to the Board of Directors at Chimp Haven and as an Associate Adjunct Instructor in Biological Anthropology at Santa Monica College, Erna has built a strong foundation in academia and public speaking. Educational qualifications include a PhD in Primatology from Stirling University, a Master of Arts in Physical and Biological Anthropology from California State University, Northridge, and a Bachelor of Arts in Cultural Anthropology and English from the same institution. Additionally, Erna has experience as an adjunct consultant for the Humane Society of the United States and was a singer for Nashi Dyevushki, a women’s ethnic chorus.
