Project Director (Technical and Commerial) at Infrastructure and Projects Authority

Ian Gardner has extensive experience in the field of infrastructure and project management. Ian currently works for the Infrastructure and Projects Authority (IPA) as a Project Director (Technical and Commercial) since April 2021, and prior to that, they held the role of Assistant Director (Technical & Commercial) from November 2020 to April 2021.

Before joining IPA, Ian worked at the UK Ministry of Defence for over a decade. Their roles included Head of Built Estate and Utility PFIs from August 2014 to November 2020, where they managed a portfolio of 12 PFI contracts and implemented cost-saving programs. Prior to their time at the Ministry of Defence, Ian worked at the Ministry of Defence Army Infrastructure Organisation as a Strategic Planning Development Project Manager from October 2004 to September 2005.

Throughout their career, Ian has demonstrated strong leadership and strategic planning skills, successfully delivering projects and implementing cost-saving measures. Ian is experienced in managing complex contracts and has a proven track record in achieving business outcomes and improving performance.

Ian Gardner earned a Master of Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Southampton. Ian attended the university from 1994 to 1998. Additionally, they pursued a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from Imperial College London from 2005 to 2006. No specific field of study is provided for their MBA.
