Transducer Designer at Innovasea

Catherine Smith has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Catherine is currently working at Innovasea as a Transducer Designer since January 2021. Prior to that, they worked at Ultra Electronics Maritime Systems as a Designer for five years from March 2016 to January 2021.

Catherine has also worked at Dalhousie University where they held multiple roles. Catherine started as a Research Assistant in September 2006 and continued until September 2014. As a Research Assistant, they developed analytic frameworks, created C++ programs, performed error testing, utilized Bash scripts and Maple(TM) worksheets, visualized data using gnuplot, delivered research seminars, published research findings, and presented at conferences. During their time at Dalhousie University, they also served as a Teaching Assistant from September 2006 to December 2011.

In addition, Catherine had a brief role as a Physics Textbook Editor at MathResources Inc. from April 2009 to July 2009. Catherine began their career as an ESL Teacher at YBM ECC Sanggye from May 2001 to April 2003.

Catherine Smith began their education at Carleton University in 1999, earning a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Psychology. After a gap of several years, they enrolled at Dalhousie University in 2003 and completed their Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Honours Physics in 2006. Catherine further pursued their education at Dalhousie University and obtained a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Condensed Matter Physics in 2008. Catherine then went on to complete their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Condensed Matter Physics, also at Dalhousie University, in 2014.
