Wei Liu

Wei Liu is a seasoned expert in environmental sustainability and research, currently serving as the Head of ESG Strategy at Alibaba Group since September 2021. We Liu's extensive academic background includes a Doctor of Philosophy in Wildlife Conservation and Wildland Management from Michigan State University, a Master of Science in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from Iowa State University, and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Peking University. Wei Liu has been a Guest Research Scholar at the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) since October 2012, where contributions have included leadership in the Governance in Transition Research Area within the Risk & Resilience Program. Previous roles include Senior Sustainability Scientist at Luohan Academy and various research and teaching positions throughout academic career, highlighting a solid foundation in both practical and theoretical aspects of environmental science.
