Semegne Hiruy is currently serving as a Medical Student for Health Equity in Myeloma Research Scholar at the International Myeloma Foundation, beginning in February 2024. Hiruy also holds the position of Research Intern at the Duke Global Health Innovation Center since May 2022 and has been a Clinical Research Assistant at Wake Forest School of Medicine since January 2022. As the Founder of ProjectReusable since January 2017, Hiruy demonstrates entrepreneurial initiative. Previous experience includes roles as a Clinical Research Assistant at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and as a Medical Scribe at Yale New Haven Health. A former Research Assistant at the University of Michigan Medical School, Hiruy has also contributed as an Academic Coach and Teaching Assistant at Calvin University. Additional experience includes a Patient Access Data Intern role at Emory Healthcare. Semegne Hiruy is pursuing a Doctor of Medicine degree at Wake Forest University School of Medicine, expected to graduate in 2025.
