Yamen Hrekes is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in mental health, psychosocial support, and cultural mediation. As the National Coordinator on MHPSS & Protection at IOM - UN Migration since July 2018, Yamen has been pivotal in managing mental health initiatives. Additionally, Yamen has served as a cultural mediator and interpreter for various UN agencies and government institutions, providing language services in multiple languages, including Arabic, English, Bosnian, Croatian, Serbian, and Spanish. Yamen’s background includes conducting language proficiency examinations for the United Nations and leading projects focused on human rights and psychosocial education with the International Federation of Medical Students Association. Yamen holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Banja Luka, a degree in Transactional Analysis counseling, and a Bachelor of Electrotechnics and Telecommunications from the University of Aleppo.
