Nico Achtsis

Head of product for Insights at InvestSuite

Nico Achtsis has a diverse work experience in the finance industry. Nico is currently serving as the Head of Product for Insights at InvestSuite since March 2021. Previously, in 2022, they established a small family office called Anisoptera Capital to manage family money, utilizing a long-only investment strategy in listed US equities. Prior to that, from 2019 to 2021, they held the role of Head of Quant at YUKKA Lab AG, where they focused on extracting alpha from news datasets for various use cases and timeframes. Nico was also involved in sales, product rollout, and improving the offering. Before that, from 2017 to 2019, they worked at Citi as a Senior Systematic Equities Trader, leading the startup of the systematic trading arm of the central risk desk. Nico'sresponsibilities included trading quantitative strategies on EMEA equities using Python. From 2015 to 2017, they served as a Quant Researcher at Schroders, where they developed the Risk Groups method for portfolio construction. Prior to that, they worked at KBC Bank & Verzekering in various roles, including Quant Portfolio Manager and Front Office Developer. Nico Achtsis began their career in finance at K.U.Leuven, where they completed their Ph.D. in developing mathematical tools for computationally challenging problems in finance.

Nico Achtsis has a strong academic background in quantitative finance and mathematics. In 2009, they completed their Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Mathematics from KU Leuven. Nico then pursued further education at ETH Zürich, where they obtained a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Quantitative Finance from 2009 to 2011.

Aside from their academic degrees, Nico Achtsis also obtained a certification as a Certified Base Programmer for SAS9 from SAS in August 2009.

In 2012, they attended the Financial Engineering Summer School at Afi Escuela de Finanzas Aplicadas. The specific field of study for this program was not provided. Nico also participated in the RTG Summer School in Financial Mathematics at Princeton University in 2013, again without a specified field of study.
