Kat Mitchel

Kat Mitchell has a diverse work experience spanning several roles and companies. In their most recent position at Invitae, they served as the Head of Product Development for Pediatrics, Cardiology, Neurology, and Rare Disease. Kat led product development and business operations efforts, resulting in a 25% yearly revenue growth. Kat also played a major role in improving the profitability of the rare disease portfolio through overseeing billing policies and procedures. Prior to this, they were a Product Management Lead for Rare Disease Testing at Invitae, managing a team of 70 responsible for developing genetic testing products and driving over $100 million in revenue. Kat also held roles as a Senior Product Manager, Platform Development Lead, and Program Manager at Invitae, where they focused on business process automation and development of NGS assay and software programs. Before joining Invitae, they gained research experience as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Children's Hospital Oakland Research Institute, where they focused on determining genetic determinants of response to cholesterol-lowering drugs. Kat also worked as a Contract Editor at American Journal Experts and as a Research Technician at Stanford University.

Kat Mitchel has a PhD in Molecular Genetics and Microbiology from Duke University and a BA in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Reed College.
