Ric Wheeler

Ric Wheeler has a diverse work experience spanning over several companies and roles. Ric is currently a Senior Director at IonQ, where they oversee the development of firmware and control software for quantum computers. Prior to that, they served as a Senior Technical Leader/Engineering Manager at Meta, where they led the platform-level bring-up of a new device type and built a team of kernel and firmware engineers.

Before joining Meta, Ric spent many years at Red Hat, where they held the position of Senior Director. Ric played a pivotal role in creating and leading Red Hat's storage engineering team, leading several acquisitions and integrations.

Ric'scareer started at EMC Computer Systems in 1998, where they contributed to the architectural design of various storage systems. Ric was a key architect for multiple key components of the Symmetrix DMX system and served as the platform architect for the Centera group, focusing on enhancing reliability for storage applications.

Throughout their career, Ric has also held representative roles at the Linux Foundation, OSDL, and OSF, and worked at Thinking Machines Corporation as an OS Developer.

Ric Wheeler holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Computer Science from Brandeis University. Ric also obtained a Master of Science (MS) degree in Computer Science from The Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
