Luke Fairchild

Associate Data Scientist at KoBold Metals

Luke is a data scientist and geologist. After obtaining his B.A. in Geology from Carleton College, he earned his M.Sc. in Earth and Planetary Science from UC Berkeley, where his research focused on reconstructing ancient plate tectonics and investigating the dynamics and evolution of the geomagnetic field. His work has been published in scientific journals such as Geology, Lithosphere, GSA Bulletin, and others.

In addition to his work in a wide range of field and laboratory settings, Luke has also helped to develop open-source scientific computing tools and has taken part in international collaborative efforts to compile large volumes of paleomagnetic data within open-source data repositories. He is excited to take a big data approach to battery mineral exploration at KoBold Metals and play a part in the electric vehicle and renewable energy revolutions.
