Mercedes Oppon-Kusi has worked in a variety of roles across multiple industries. In 2012, they were a Learning and Development Assistant at the Financial Times, responsible for assessing learning gaps and managing learning needs across the business. In 2013, they were a Subject Co-ordinator (GCSE& A-Level Mathematics) at Pearson, responsible for supporting curriculum design, reviewing course communications, recruiting examiners and supervising publication of chief examiner reports. In 2014, they were the General Manager at The Professional Mediators' Association, managing the internal and external operations for a non-profit subsidiary of the TCM Group. In 2015, they were a Knowledge and Learning Assistant at Charles Russell Speechlys LLP, supporting the delivery of internal training and development activities. In 2018, they completed a Mini Pupillage at Chambers of Lawrence Power, creating editing case bundles, drafting defence claims and attending case management conferences. From 2016 to 2019, they were a Trainer - Legal Software at Thomson Reuters, delivering IT training to clients in universities and academic research institutions, designing learning and development materials, creating training proposals and conducting training needs analysis. Most recently, they have been a Community Manager at International Legal Technology Association (ILTA) since 2019, and is currently a Community Manager at Lansweeper since 2022.
Mercedes Oppon-Kusi obtained their LLB from the University of East Anglia between 2009 and 2012. Mercedes then attended Haringey Sixth Form Centre from 2007 to 2009. In 2017, they completed a Level 6 Post Graduate Diploma in Law and Practice at CILEX Law School, with a focus on Company Law and Employment Law. Additionally, Mercedes has obtained certifications in Goal Setting: Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) from LinkedIn in November 2022, Building a Branded Local Community from LinkedIn in April 2022, and a Certificate in Workplace and Employment Mediation.
