Margaret Weisbrod Morris

From 2001 to 2006, Margaret Weisbrod Morris worked as the Education Director at Lawrence Arts Center. In this role, they managed and administered the visual arts education program, which included over 500 classes per year and served over 3,000 students. Margaret was responsible for curriculum development, program growth and strategy, financial management, human resources, fundraising, and program assessment and evaluation. During their time in this role, they doubled enrollment and grew program revenues by 100%, aligned program content with state and national arts education standards, and introduced various initiatives such as artist-in-residency programs and multi-tiered program evaluation.

From 2006 to 2011, Margaret worked at the Kansas Arts Commission, first as the Manager for Community and Artist Partnerships and then as the Art Education Manager. In these positions, they led public funding and award programs for artists, managed grant programs, and developed partnerships and professional development opportunities for artists. Margaret also advanced partnerships between Kansas and national arts education offices and designed curriculum and assessments for arts education programs.

In 2011, Margaret returned to Lawrence Arts Center as the Chief Program Officer. In this role, they led a diverse portfolio of educational programs and initiatives for the contemporary arts center, overseeing the art school, licensed arts-based preschool and kindergarten, School of Dance, School of Theatre and Music, community outreach programs, and artist-in-residency programs. Margaret provided vision, leadership, and management to over 75 faculty members and delivered programs to over 9,000 students per year.

In June 2018, Margaret was promoted to Chief Executive Officer of Lawrence Arts Center, a position they still hold.

Margaret Weisbrod Morris obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 2-Dimensional Media, specializing in Painting & Printmaking, from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1993. Later, they pursued their Master's degree in Art Therapy/Therapist at New York University, completing it in 1999.
