Darren Lim has extensive work experience in various engineering and management roles.
Darren is currently serving as the Director of Strategy & Operations at Liminal Insights Inc., a Series A battery manufacturing intelligence start-up. In this role, they are responsible for fundraising, business strategy, operations, finance, technical/manufacturing operations, supply chain, and team growth.
Prior to that, Darren worked at Amber Kinetics, a Series D flywheel energy storage start-up. Darren held multiple roles in the company, including Director of Program Management, Senior Engineering Program Manager, and Engineering Program Manager. During their time at Amber Kinetics, they led a team of program managers and sourcing managers, overseeing company-wide program initiatives such as OKR implementation, product roadmaps, business processes, goals planning, growth efforts, and fundraising.
Before joining Amber Kinetics, Darren worked at Air Liquide as a Production Engineer, where they gained experience in process engineering.
Darren also has experience in the oil and gas industry, having worked at ExxonMobil as a Coker Process Engineer and Oil Movements Process Engineer. In these roles, they provided technical support for refinery processes, managed day-to-day unit optimization, and led long-term capital projects.
Darren started their career as a Process Engineering Intern at Calpine and an Engineering Intern at Genentech.
Darren Lim has a strong educational background in both business and engineering. Darren holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from the University of California, Berkeley, Haas School of Business. Prior to that, they earned a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Southern California. Furthermore, they completed their undergraduate studies at the University of California, Berkeley, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Chemical Engineering. In high school, Darren excelled academically and was recognized as the Salutatorian at Milpitas High School. Additionally, they have obtained a certification as an Engineer-In-Training (EIT) in Chemical Engineering from the Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, and Geologists in November 2014.
