Job description

Our client is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to empower women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire and development tools to help women thrive in work and in life. We provide women with supportive services needed to make life transitions that result in achieving self-sufficiency and socioeconomic advancement.

Reporting to the board of directors, the Executive Director will have the overall strategic and operational responsibility for fundraising, donor relations, program management, communications, staff and volunteer engagement, budget management, and execution of its mission. The Executive Director will develop a deep knowledge of core programs, operations, and business plans and build lasting internal and external relationships that lead to the advancement of the mission. The Executive Director will be responsible for overseeing the annual budget, volunteers and staff.

DEVELOPMENT AND FUNDRAISING

  • Oversee all development and fundraising activities, and creation and implementation of a comprehensive and diverse fundraising business plan.
  • Participate in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of fundraising campaigns, party events, and corporate giving campaigns.
  • Support the work to obtain financial targets including grant receipts, event revenue, and corporate support.
  • Lead the solicitation of funding from foundations, corporations and businesses and individuals to support the organization and the needs of its clients.
  • Oversee all research, preparation and submission of grant proposals, including interviews and site visits, ensuring that funds are expended appropriately and in accordance with terms.
  • Supervise staff to ensure the successful management of the donor database, thank you letters and other donor related administrative activities.

FINANCIAL ADMINISTRATION

  • Work with the Board to develop a proposed budget for approval by the Board of Directors.
  • Prepare monthly financial reports for review with the Board Treasurer in advance of each board meeting.
  • Monitor financial performance against the budget, including monitoring of receipts, expenditures, and cash flow; performance is reported monthly
  • Work with outside accounting services including bookkeepers to create and maintain internal controls, as well as an efficient process for managing incoming finances and all financial reporting.

ORGANIZATIONAL MANAGEMENT

  • Staff, Administrative, and Facilities
  • Oversee functions of staff, including hiring, performance appraisal, implementation of professional development programs, and performance improvement/release of all paid staff and contractors
  • Provide leadership to staff and maintain a culture and climate that aligns with company values, and also attracts, keeps and motivates quality personnel
  • Develop, implement, and monitor personnel policies to ensure a positive and productive environment, and one that encourages continuous improvement.
  • Oversee facilities management, including landlord relationships
  • Board Engagement and Support
  • Work with Board President to ensure Board activity and involvement
  • Attend Board meetings, prepares financial and any other applicable materials
  • Assist the Board as directed in long-range planning and special projects
  • Assist in the board recruiting and nomination process
  • Support board through development of strategic plans, policies, and priorities
  • Bring appropriate issues and policy decisions to the board in a timely manner
  • Programs Oversight
  • Oversee all programs to ensure client development through proper management, mission-focus and share best practices with staff, volunteers and partner agencies

EXTERNAL COMMUNICATIONS AND PARTNERSHIPS

  • Serve as an advocate and spokesperson for education and general awareness for the brand
  • Maintain good working relationship with Worldwide staff
  • Oversee submission of the annual Standards of Accountability to Worldwide
  • Oversee all marketing and communications including website, Facebook, Constant Contact, etc.
  • Partner with outside PR firms to promote successful marketing campaigns
  • Develop strategic community relationships with corporations, businesses, networking groups and women’s leadership groups, to maximize impact and leverage strengths of diverse groups of interested parties.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Five years of management experience (preferably in a nonprofit setting and working with a board of directors) including leading and coaching staff.
  • Track record of effective leadership, with specific examples of implemented strategies resulting in successful outcomes.
  • Strong fundraising, marketing and public relations experience with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders and cultures.
  • Excellence in organizational management with ability to develop and lead high-performing teams to accomplish strategic objectives.
  • Knowledge and experience in successful fundraising strategies and donor relations in addition to demonstrated proficiency in grant-writing.
  • Experience in public speaking, and skilled in developing positive interpersonal relationships.
  • Commitment to providing and ensuing high quality programs.
  • Passionate, energetic, professional, action-oriented and adaptable.
  • Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people.
  • Displays passion, integrity and a positive attitude, and is self-directed.
