Ron Hughes has over 35 years of experience in the manufacturing industry. Ron began their career in 1984 at Electro Scientific Industries (ESI) in a variety of roles. In 1997, they became a Project Manager at ESI, where they managed the development and implementation of new and existing product development for a semiconductor capital equipment design engineering group. Ron then took on the role of Product Support Specialist and Manufacturing Engineer, where they managed customer requests for engineering changes and facilitated the implementation of manufacturability, outsourceability, serviceability, testability, and overall quality of new products and product enhancements. In 2008, they joined PolyVision as a Manufacturing Engineer, where they oversaw, facilitated, and approved all Quality Team related activities and created and validated PFMEA in new product design. In 2010, they moved to MEMC Electronic Materials as a Quality Engineer, where they coordinated with Solar Wafer Engineering and Manufacturing groups to ensure effective inspection and test procedures. In 2011, they joined Phoseon Technology as a Manufacturing Engineer, where they were a key project resource to implement 5S, Lean, DFx, and quality methodologies in the transfer of complex UV-LED electronic products from Engineering to Manufacturing. Most recently, in 2015, they joined Lumencor, Inc. as the Director of Manufacturing, where they planned, directed, and coordinated the work activities and resources necessary for manufacturing Lumencor products.

Ron Hughes has a long education history, beginning with their high school diploma from Centennial High School in 1982. After that, they earned a Basic Electronics Certificate from Mt. Hood Community College in 1988. From 1989 to 2007, they attended Portland Community College, where they earned an AA in General Studies with a focus in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Management, and Mathematics. In 1998, they earned a Certificate in Management and Supervisory Development from Portland Community College. That same year, they also attended the American Management Association. In 2009, they earned a Certificate in Six Sigma Lean from Villanova University. Finally, in 2010, they earned a Certificate in Six Sigma Green Belt from Villanova University, and in 2013, they earned a Professional Development degree with a focus in Kaizen / Lean / 5S from Portland State University.
