Charles Viau is a Senior Research Scientist at McGill University since November 2019, focusing on C. elegans metabolomics using LC-HRMS to explore the effects of bacterial diets on the native microbiome of the organism. Prior to this role, Charles held a Postdoctoral Researcher position at Queen's University Belfast from June 2018 to June 2019, where Charles established assays to investigate the impact of the Ascaris suum neuropeptide FLP-18 on C. elegans. Additionally, during a previous Postdoctoral Researcher role at McGill University from May 2015 to June 2018, Charles developed a RNA interference platform to target neuropeptide GPCRs in C. elegans and managed research projects assessing nanoparticle toxicity on the same model organism. Charles earned a Ph.D. in Microbiology and Immunology from McGill University in 2015, following an Honours Bachelor's of Science degree in Microbiology and Immunology with a focus on Pharmacology obtained from the same institution in 2009.
