Alexander Naiman

VP, Engineering at Merlin Labs

Alexander Naiman is the VP of Engineering at Merlin Labs. Alexander has over four years of experience leading engineering teams in the development of autonomous flight and machine learning solutions.

Prior to joining Merlin Labs, Alexander was the Director of Engineering at Wayfinder, where they led the team that built the deep machine learning-based computer vision system that performed fully autonomous landings of an Airbus flight test A350-1000 in April 2020.

Before their work at Wayfinder, Alexander was an Aerospace Engineer at Otherlab, where they worked on several government and commercially funded projects pushing the limits of possibility for autonomous aerial vehicles. In one project, they led design, integration, and testing efforts for a DARPA project to build a rapidly biodegradable, low-cost glider.

Alexander Naiman has a Ph.D. in Aeronautics and Astronautics from Stanford University, an M.S. in Aeronautics and Astronautics from Stanford University, and a B.S.E. in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from Princeton University. Alexander also has certification from the CA Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, and Geologists as a Professional Engineer.

Alexander Naiman reports to Sherif Ali, Chief Engineer.
