Shaun Luong, CAPM

CX Engineer at Metrics Design Automation

Shaun Luong, CAPM, has a diverse work experience spanning several industries and roles. Shaun currently works as a CX Engineer at Metrics Design Automation, starting in November 2021. Prior to this, Shaun worked as an FPGA Design Engineer at Enduro Pipeline Services from October 2020 to February 2021, where they developed and modified FPGA designs for pipeline inspection tools.

Before that, Shaun was a Hardware Developer at INOVA Geophysical from December 2019 to May 2020. In this role, they tested and verified electronic hardware designs for seismic data acquisition and implemented transceiverless telemetry in existing hardware products.

From 2016 to 2019, Shaun worked as a Model-Based Design Engineer at Schneider Electric. Shaun refined power controls for utility-scale solar power inverters using model-based design software and resolved firmware issues in the test lab and field.

Shaun's work experience also includes a role as a VHDL Developer at INOVA Geophysical from 2013 to 2015. Here, they programmed in VHDL for seismic data acquisition designs and completed integration testing and debugging of new firmware on existing hardware systems.

In 2011, Shaun worked as a Project Leader and Electrical Engineer at Extreme Engineering. Shaun led the final development and release of projects for testing proprietary MWD equipment and reviewed and approved design documents.

Additionally, Shaun served as an Electrical Engineer at Helio Technology from 2010 to 2011. In this role, they initiated the electrical design of an omnidirectional treadmill and developed an FPGA-based wireless position tracking system.

Lastly, Shaun began their career as a Research Engineer at the Communications Research Centre from 2000 to 2008. Shaun implemented programmable high-speed logic designs for broadband wireless communication systems and played a key role in the development of various wireless systems.

Overall, Shaun Luong, CAPM, has extensive experience in hardware development, FPGA design, model-based design, and project leadership across multiple industries.

Shaun Luong, CAPM, obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Alberta, where they studied from 1994 to 1999. In 2001 to 2002, they attended the Ottawa-Carleton Institute for Electrical and Computer Engineering, focusing on Digital Communications. From 2000 to 2019, Shaun pursued professional development opportunities, although no specific degree or field of study is provided for this period.

In addition to their educational background, Shaun has obtained several certifications. Shaun obtained the Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) certification from the Project Management Institute in July 2019. Shaun also holds the Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) certification from Professional Engineers Ontario, which they obtained in September 2005. Shaun has also completed CSS Essential Training 3 and HTML Essential Training from LinkedIn, which they obtained in November 2019 and October 2019, respectively.
