Chief Medical Officer at Mid-America Transplant

Gary Marklin MD has extensive work experience in the medical field. Gary served as the Chief Medical Officer at Mid-America Transplant from 2014, where they managed an organ recovery center and led quality improvement initiatives. Gary also trained a team of ICU nurses and tissue technicians. Prior to this, they worked as a Consulting Physician in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at Saint Anthony's Pulmonary Specialists since 1985, where they served as the medical director for the ICU, respiratory therapy, and pulmonary rehabilitation units. Gary has also worked as an Associate Medical Director at Mid-America Transplant from 2008 to 2014. In addition, they have completed a Clinical and Research Fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis and served as a Resident and Intern in Internal Medicine at the University of Iowa and University of Missouri-Columbia, respectively. Furthermore, they have experience as a Resident Assistant at the University of Missouri-Columbia and as a Program Director at Camp Richard's Boys Summer Camp.

Dr. Gary Marklin holds a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia, School of Medicine, which they obtained in 1980. Prior to that, they earned a Master's Degree in Anatomy from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1979, and a Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry with honors from the same institution in 1975. In addition to their academic qualifications, Dr. Marklin has obtained several certifications including a Medical License from the State of Missouri, a Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs Registration Certificate from the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, and a Controlled Substance Registration Certificate from the Drug Enforcement Administration. Gary is also recognized as a Diplomate by the American Board of Internal Medicine and the National Board of Medical Examiners, with specializations in Critical Care Medicine and Pulmonary Medicine. Furthermore, Dr. Marklin is a Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians (FCCP) and a Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP).
