John Heffron has a diverse work experience spanning several industries. John started their career working in sales at Nordstrom while in college and graduate school. John then worked at Torsys Consulting as a Human Resources Coordinator, where they handled staffing, benefits, and office administration. John later joined Universal Studios Hollywood as a Labor Relations/Employee Relations manager, representing management during union negotiations and overseeing the staffing and operational needs of the Atmosphere department.
Afterwards, John worked at the American Red Cross, first as a Talent Acquisition Manager, focused on improving the applicant experience and streamlining the hiring process. John then became the Talent Acquisition Program and Vendor Manager, overseeing relationships, programs, and procurement of services for the Talent Acquisition team.
John then joined Providence Health & Services as a Talent Acquisition Manager, responsible for managing the recruitment process and sourcing for paid staff. John then moved onto Providence St. Joseph Health as a Senior Manager of Talent Acquisition, where they oversaw nurse recruiting for multiple hospitals and focused on improving recruitment processes and experiences for candidates and hiring managers.
John's next role was at IBM as an HR Delivery Manager, leading a team of Talent Advisors responsible for hiring caregivers for Providence St. Joseph Health and Covenant Health. John then transitioned to their current role as the Director of Talent Acquisition at Samaritan Health Services, where they provide centralized management of the recruiting function for executive, management, professional, and staff-level positions within the organization. Throughout their career, John has emphasized the importance of building strong relationships, improving processes, and ensuring a positive experience for all stakeholders.
John Heffron holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of Washington, which they obtained from 1986 to 1988. John then pursued a Master of Fine Arts degree in Theater from the California Institute of the Arts between 1989 and 1992. Prior to that, they studied Political Science, Economics, and Theater at the University of Puget Sound from 1983 to 1985. In terms of certifications, they obtained the SHRM-SCP certification from the Society of Human Resources Management in 2015 and the Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR®) Certification from the HR Certification Institute in 2010.
