James de Bree

James de Bree has a diverse work experience spanning different companies and roles. James started their career as a Teaching Assistant at the University of California San Diego while also working as a Laboratory Assistant (Computational) in a high-impact research group.

After that, they joined Illumina, a global leader in DNA sequencing and array-based technologies, where they held various positions, including Engineer 1, Engineer 2, Senior Engineer, and ultimately Manager, Engineering. In these roles, they were responsible for driving process development, technology transfers, and operational support for manufacturing operations. James successfully led troubleshooting and continuous improvement initiatives, improving quality, yield, capacity, and cost savings.

Moving on, James worked at Amgen as a Senior Engineer, Technical Investigator, focusing on building maturity into a new functional organization and driving critical investigations and improvement activities. James played a crucial role in maintaining Amgen's competitive advantage and preserving revenue.

Next, they joined Dexcom as a Staff Process Engineer, where they addressed technical challenges associated with continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) devices. James initiated critical programs and drove initiatives to reduce customer-facing issues, achieve cost savings targets, and ensure successful technology transfers.

After that, James worked at Inscripta, Inc. as a Senior Process Engineer 2. James was brought on to drive critical process development activities and define a manufacturing strategy for a novel CRISPR editing platform. James spearheaded technical collaborations and played a key role in overcoming design and operational challenges.

Currently, James is working at Molecular Assemblies, Inc. as a Staff Process Engineer.

James de Bree obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Bioengineering (Biotechnology) from UC San Diego. James attended this institution from 2010 to 2012.
