Mark Stern

Mark Stern has worked as a Senior Data Scientist at MindGeek from April 2019 to May 2022. During this time, they specialized in designing, building, and maintaining data science and machine learning applications for top video streaming websites with 10M+ daily visitors. Their main focus was on recommender systems in a production environment that required big data processing and rapid delivery.

Mark Stern is currently working at Multi Media, LLC as a Machine Learning Engineer since May 2022. In this role, they are responsible for designing, building, and maintaining recommender systems for live stream broadcasts. The infrastructure includes streaming and batch pipelines from the data warehouse to an in-memory feature store. Mark handles recommendation inference on demand, with the ability to handle thousands of requests per second.

Mark Stern attended McGill University from 2005 to 2009, where they earned a Bachelor's degree in Joint Honours in Physics and Mathematics. Mark then pursued a Master's degree in Physics at McGill University from 2009 to 2012. Mark continued their education at McGill University from 2013 to 2018, completing a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Condensed Matter and Materials Physics.
